Spicy Witch Productions explores gender and identity through the pairing of classical and contemporary plays in repertory. Dedicated to creating roles for women on and offstage, Spicy Witch aims to help close the gender gap in theater and to use the conversation between classical and contemporary text to initiate a dialogue and be a catalyst for social change.

Our Story
Our Story
Our six founding members - Meghan Blakeman, Gianna Cioffi, Hannah Hammel, Sarah Lemanski, Isabelle Russo, and Rebecca Weiss - were serendipitously thrown together in a Shakespearean production where they felt their looks were valued far more than their talent, intelligence, or artistic merit. Frustrated by the opportunities they felt they lacked as women, these women decided to create theatrical opportunities for themselves and other like-minded theater artists. With a mission to close the gender gap in both classical and contemporary theater, the Spicy Witches dedicated themselves to repertory seasons that opened up opportunities for those underrepresented in theater throughout time.
